The word aparajita means the woman with indomitable spirit. It aptly describes the unconquerable spirit of the people who survive natures calamities and choose to rebuild their lives. Kala Aparajita believes that the creativity of artisans is exemplified by their strength to keep their art alive in spite of their poverty and deprivations. It supports this determination and will to survive by promoting the work of low-income artisan groups in disaster affected areas.
BHAKTAPUR CRAFT PRINTERS (Kathmandu, Nepal)
Bhaktapur Craft Printers is a project developed and expanded by the government of Nepal in collaboration with UNICEF. It is a model sustainable community development project aimed at improving the quality of life for poor and under-privileged communities through the production of paper products.
KAZURI (Nairobi, Kenya)
Kazuri began over 25 years ago as a tiny workshop experimenting in making hand formed beads. Today the company provides much needed employment for dozens of women, most of who are single mothers, from villages around Nairobi.
NORBULINGKA INSTITUTE (Dharamsala, India)
The Norbulingka Institute is a registered trust operating under the Chairmanship of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the spiritual and temporal leader of the Tibetan People, under the auspices of the Tibetan government in exile. It is dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan culture in both its literary and artistic forms.
TARA (Trade Alternative Reform Action) PROJECTS (New Delhi, India)
Tara Projects, a member of IFAT, was formed to provide support services to the production and marketing of handicrafts, and to look after the community developmental needs of grassroots crafts-people. Currently the project operates in and around New Delhi, combating exploitation and poverty through fair trade, rallies, and education aimed at helping producers gain skills, materials and awareness of their rights and human dignity.

Work of Women provides educational and training opportunities, small business loans, healthcare and clean water for women and children living in remote communities in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
